Description of Position:
The Athletic Trainer position is a 12-month, full-time, administrative/professional position and is located in the Athletic Training Facility, which is a departmental unit of Intercollegiate Athletics Department located at the Pullman campus of Washington State University. This position will undertake and perform properly, efficiently, to the best of their ability and consistent with the standards of the University, all duties and responsibilities for the health care of student-athletes under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Training Services and the guidance of the Team Physicians; to include coordination of care, prevention and rehabilitation and will also be responsible for the clinical education, supervision and mentoring of the Athletic Training students in the accredited Athletic Training education curriculum program.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide primary medical care, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and injury counseling for all assigned student athletes and sports.
Contact and consult with Parent/Guardian as needed.
Direct contact and communication with Team Physicians.
Coordinate and consult with outside Physicians as needed.
Communicate with additional support staff, including Strength Coaches, Nutritionist, Academic Counselors, Counseling Services and substance abuse counselor.
Travel with assigned team to away events, as needed.
Practice and event setup and coverage.
Provide daily injury report of student-athletes to head coach.
Complete and have on file, medical documents relating to all assigned student-athletes injuries/illnesses/medical conditions including: WSU and non-WSU physician notes, Athletic Trainer initial and follow up assessments, daily treatments and rehabilitations, documentation of referral process and diagnostic testing results.
Athletic Training Student (ATS) Education
a. Mentor assigned ATS's.
b. Monitor progress through competency list.
c. Teach weekly seminars as assigned.
d. Assist in clinical education.
e. Supervise clinical experience of ATS's
f. Manage field experience of ATS's
Meeting Attendance
a. Athletic Trainer, Certified (ATC)/Medical Doctor (MD)

Minimum Qualifications:
NATA Certification
Demonstrated ability to work with students, coaches and administrative personnel in a broad range of medical situations.
Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
Bachelor's degree in athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in related field.
Work experience within intercollegiate athletic training services.
Work experience within Division I level of athletic training services.
Work experience that demonstrates the necessary skills to successfully supervise Athletic Training Students (ATS).
Work experience that demonstrates ability to provide clinical ATS instruction.
Experience that demonstrates ability to work successfully with a diverse student population.
Work experience that demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
Salary:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
