Development Director/Associate Director of Athletics, Athletic Foundation

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Associate Director of Athletics position is a 12-month, permanent, overtime-exempt, administrative/professional position and is based in Intercollegiate Athletics, which is a departmental unit of Washington State University located in Pullman, Washington.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree. Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience which includes three (3) years of full-time professional fund raising experience and at least two (2) years in an institution of higher education. Demonstrated success in proposal writing and submission, evidence of ability to plan and execute a fund drive (i.e. responsibility for a project from conception to realization), demonstrated success in face-to-face solicitations of gifts of $25,000 or more OR comparable experience. Comparable experience includes six (6) years of progressively responsible full-time sales, marketing, public relations, or advancement experience which has involved direct, face-to-face contact with clients, customers, prospective customers and members of the public, program oversight and management, clearly defined goals and objectives and a demonstrated track record of success may be substituted for the experience requirements. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience that demonstrates ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, co-workers, and constituents. Work experience that demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Work experience that demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills. Development experience with a public higher education institution, or similar complex organization. Fundraising experience closing multiple gifts of $100,000 and above. Experience working with corporate, foundation and government proposal writing. Experience working with creating/developing/leading new organizations/units/teams, establishing objectives, and developing and implementing plans to successfully accomplish these.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Sr. Associate Director of Athletics, establish unit goals in support of the department's strategic benchmarks. Develop, implement and manage a strategic plan to achieve the Athletic Foundation's annual giving priorities and goals, including all annual, capital, endowment, and campaign giving, gift planning, stewardship, corporate and foundation relations, development research, development services, and special events areas. Duty includes developing, implementing and managing task and individual staff development goals to achieve unit objectives.
Maintain and personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a major gift prospect portfolio of 75-100 donors, with emphasis on donors with capacity to make gifts in $100,000 or greater range.
Develop and administer policy, procedures, and programs as necessary within the Athletic Foundation.
Serve as the Athletic Department's liaison between the WSU Foundation and unit donors, and collaborate with other University development offices and directors as necessary to achieve Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and/or University fundraising objectives.
Monitor state and federal legislation and/or regulations related to development.
Supervise the development office staff and programs.
Provide and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff to enhance the operations of the unit.
Coordinate goal setting, monitoring, and evaluation of all staff members in concert with the stated annual objectives of the unit.
Other related duties as assigned.
SALARY:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
