Football
During homecoming weekend, the Washington State football team hosted undefeated Arizona State. The Sun Devils maintained that status with a 23-20 win over the Cougars.
- Quarterback Alex Brink passed Jason Gesser to become WSU's all-time passing yardage leader with 8,923 career yards. Brink threw for 369 against ASU.
- Linebacker Andy Mattingly recorded a career-high four sacks and 13 tackles in his first career start.
- Free safety Husain Abdullah picked up his ninth career interception to move him into a tie for 11th on the WSU all-time lists.
Women's Soccer
The WSU soccer team traveled to its border rival and shut-out Idaho 4-0 over the weekend. The Cougars improved to 7-1-2 before they head into Pacific-10 Conference play against Arizona and Arizona State this weekend.
- Brooke Bemis scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the match.
- The win gave the Cougars their best nonconference record in school history.
Volleyball
The WSU volleyball team hosted Arizona and Arizona State. The Cougars were on the losing side of both matches, falling to Arizona in four games (30-28, 30-26, 25-30, 30-21) and getting swept by Arizona State in three (30-21, 30-28, 30-17).
- Tara West had a career-high nine blocks against Arizona and Jackie Albright pounded down 13 kills.
- Adetokunbo Faleti recorded 11 kills against Arizona State.
- The Cougars drop to 9-10 overall and 0-5 in the Pac-10.
Cross Country
The cross country squad did not compete over the weekend but will be competing in the NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational Saturday.
Women's Tennis
Ekaterina Burduli headlined the WSU effort at the USTA NTC Women's College Invitational with an A flight title win. Burduli scored the 6-2,6-2 win over Dartmouth's Molly Scott to win her second tournament of the season.
Burduli's season singles record was pushed to 8-1, and she now has 71 career victories, tied for eighth all-time in WSU history.
Men's and Women's Golf
The WSU men's golf team will begin competition at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational today, and the women's golf team will being competition at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational today as well.
