Football
The Washington State football team fell to Oregon 53-7 on the road Saturday. The Cougars dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

  • Receiver Charles Dillon ranks No. 5 on the WSU single-season all-time top 10 list with 23 kickoff returns.
  • Receiver Jeshua Anderson hauled in four passes for a team-high 127 yards, both a career high for the freshman.
  • WSU is in its bye week and will return to action Oct. 27, hosting UCLA.

Soccer
The WSU soccer squad split a pair of matches to open the Pac-10 season. The Cougars posted a 3-1 victory over Arizona to open conference play but fell to Arizona State 1-0 in overtime Sunday.

  • Kiersten Dallstream scored two second half goals against Arizona.
  • Brooke Bemis scored her sixth goal of the season against Arizona.
  • The Cougars take an 8-2-2, 1-1-0 record to Seattle as they prepare to play Washington Oct. 19.

Volleyball
The WSU volleyball team fell to No. 2 Stanford in three games (30-23, 30-19, 30-22) and to No. 10 California in three as well (30-18, 30-22, 31-29) over the weekend.

Men's and Women's Cross Country
The WSU cross country squads competed at the Brooks Pre-Nationals meet. The women posted a 17th-place finish of 38 teams in the Blue section. The men finished in 19th of a 40-team field in the White section.

  • Sara Trané led the women with a 39th-place showing, running the 6,000-meter course in 21:06.
  • Andrew Jones headlined the men's effort, crossing the wire in 62nd-place with a time of 24:12.

Rowing
The WSU rowing team competed at the Head of the Oklahoma over the weekend. The Cougars' varsity four and eight teams took first in the Women's Collegiate Four and Collegiate Eight races. In the Women's Championship Eight race, WSU placed third and fourth.

Men's Golf
The Cougar men's golf team finished in 15th at the Alister MacKenzie Invite last week. Jordan Mason finished tied for 38th at par with a 213 three-round total. As a team, the Cougars shot 864 for the three rounds.

Women's Golf
The WSU women's golf team placed 11th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invite. Brooke Henderson paced the Cougars with a 229 three-day total and a tie for 28th. Three other Cougars finished within six strokes of Henderson to help the team to a score of 924 for the three-day tournament.
