    April 15, 2008

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce the hiring of Andrew Palileo as our new head volleyball coach.

Andrew has all of the qualities we were striving for in a head coach at Washington State. He is focused, ethical, passionate, experienced and goal-oriented. In addition, Andrew has proven to be a successful head coach and has demonstrated his ability to elevate programs to be nationally competitive. He will strive for excellence on and off the court while keeping a strong commitment to the well-being of the student-athletes.

A complete biography of Andrew can be found in our news release, but I want to mention that he comes to Washington State after an exceptional seven-year tenure as head coach of South Dakota State where he accumulated 154 wins.

His 2007 season at SDSU was especially noteworthy. The Jackrabbits were the 2007 Summit League regular season and tournament volleyball champions and earned the school's first trip to the NCAA Tournament last fall. Andrew's squad broke or tied 23 team or individual records during its historic 2007 season. For his efforts, he was named the 2007 Summit League Coach of the Year.

In addition to Andrew, I would like to welcome his wife, Wendy, three sons, Ashton (15), Austin (13), and A.J. (7), and daughter, Alyvia (11) to the Cougar Family. I would also like to welcome his staff, Associate Head Coach Brian Lamppa and Assistant Coach TeAna Crutcher-Tramel, to WSU as well.

I am confident that Andrew and his staff will make every effort to provide our Cougar women with the best student-athlete experience in the country. They will be a great fit for WSU Athletics and the Pullman community.
