Baseball Excellence Fund

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the baseball team on a tremendous 2009 regular season. Our student-athletes and coaching staff, led by Donnie Marbut, strived to achieve excellence on the diamond all year, and their efforts were rewarded with a selection to the NCAA Tournament, the first for the program since 1990.

We are extremely excited about this year's success of our program and are determined to carry it forward into the future. To do this, we must provide our coaches and student-athletes every resource possible, allowing them every opportunity to maintain this success.

You, as a Cougar alumni, fan, or supporter, are paramount in helping our student-athletes succeed. Please know there is an excellence fund for baseball. Your donations to this fund are devoted to the department's ongoing effort to enhance the baseball program and its facilities.

As with all of our athletic programs, the WSU Athletic Department's commitment is to provide the baseball program with the highest-quality facilities in order to give our coaches and student-athletes the opportunity to maintain a position as a top-tier program in the Pacific-10 Conference and the nation. In addition, the continuing effort to develop our baseball facilities will significantly bolster recruiting efforts and attract the best student-athletes to WSU.

Thanks to some key gifts from alumni and friends, we have accomplished a great deal in regards to the development of our baseball facilities. This has included the installation of a FieldTurf surface to Bailey-Brayton Field, the construction of an indoor batting facility, and the installation of seats to the stadium.

While we have done much, there is still more to accomplish. To do so, WSU Athletics will need additional financial support. This is where you can help.

The success of the baseball team this season has been thrilling to watch, and the upcoming NCAA Tournament has only enhanced my excitement for what lies ahead.
