MacArthur Wins Hammer at USC Trojan Invite Track & Field Meet

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Washington State's Phil MacArthur won the men's hammer with an NCAA Regional Qualifying throw at the USC Trojan Invitational Friday afternoon.

MacArthur, a junior from Selkirk, Wash., tossed the hammer 196-feet, 9 inches for the win while Chase Mancuso, a junior from Mukilteo, Wash., had a best throw of 175-11 (place was not available).

In the women's hammer throw, WSU's McKenzie Garberg, a senior from Benton City, Wash., finished third with her NCAA Regional Qualifying toss of 192-6.

The hammer throw competition was contested at West Los Angeles City College but the remainder of the Trojan Invite Saturday events will be held at Loker Stadium/Cromwell Field on the University of Southern California campus.
