Pickler Named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Diana Pickler has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the heptathlon Thursday for the second time in three years at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

A senior at Washington State University, Pickler won the women's heptathlon with a world-leading and personal best score of 6,205 points, a 349 point improvement over her previous best of 5,855. Pickler's winning score was also an "A" Qualifier for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
