Hanson and Trané Named Third Team Academic All-Americans

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State's McKinnon Hanson and Sara Trané have been selected to the 2007-08 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Track & Field/ Cross Country third team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hanson, a high jumper from LaPush, Wash., graduated in May with a degree in philosophy and a 3.99 grade point average. She high jumped to an eighth-place tie at both the 2007 and 2008 Pac-10 Championships., and tied for ninth at the 2008 NCAA West Regional meet. Hanson was a member of the WSU Athletics All-Academic team each semester at WSU and honored with a Senior Excellence in Academics award.

Trané (pronounced trah-knee-ah) is a junior steeplechase runner from Pixbo, Sweden, with a 3.96 GPA majoring in psychology. Trané won the steeplechase at both the 2007 and 2008 Pac-10 Championships. She holds the school record with a time of 10-minutes, 14.29 seconds. Trané finished fifth at the 2008 NCAA West Regional meet and 19th at the NCAA Championships.
