Cougar Throwers to Hold Seventh Annual Car Wash

Sept. 17, 2008

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University Track and Field throwers will hold their Seventh Annual Car Wash Sunday, September 28, in downtown Pullman, with the money raised going to the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse in honor of all those women in the area battling breast cancer.

In the past six years, the Cougar throwers have washed cars and raised over $7,000 to donate to local community members in need. Previous car washes have raised money for individual cancer patients, a transplant recipient and the Pullman Community Action Center.

"The Cougar throwers are grateful to the support we have received from Pullman and surrounding communities for the past six years," WSU Associate Coach Debra Farwell said. "The people who have received the donations from our car washes are truly deserving and we are happy to be able to assist the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse this year."

The Washington State javelin, discus, shot put and hammer throwers will put their muscles to work from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, September 28, at the Bank of America parking lot, 425 East Main Street, Pullman. The Pullman Chevron Gas Station is donating the water used for the car wash.

Those unable to stop by the car wash can donate by contacting Debra Farwell at 509-335-0260 or debral@wsu.edu.
