PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University Track and Field throwers held their Seventh Annual Car Wash Sunday, September 28, and under sunny skies raised $851 which was donated to the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse in honor of all those women in the area who have or are now battling breast cancer.
In the past seven years the Cougar throwers have washed cars and raised over $7,938 to donate to local community members in need. The proceeds from previous car washes have gone to cover the costs of medical treatment for cancer patients, a transplant recipient and for food and diapers for the Pullman Community Action Center.
"Once again the Cougar throwers are humbled by the outpouring of support from the community members and their continued participation through donations," Cougar Associate Track & Field Coach Debra Farwell said. "We are also grateful to the Pullman Bank of America and the Pullman Chevron Gas Station for their donations of the parking lot and water for the car wash. They make it possible for these WSU student-athletes to give back to the community."
