Series Opener Against ASU Suspended Due To Partial Light Outage

March 30, 2006

PULLMAN, Wash. - The series-opening Pacific-10 Conference game between Washington State University and Arizona State University was suspended in the top of the third inning due to a partial light outage. The game will continue Friday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field with a 2 p.m. start. Following the completion of the first game, game two of the series will begin 30 minute later.

The partial light outage was the second of the game as a row of lights along the first base side went out. The first outage occurred at the end of the first inning and lasted 15 minutes before play resumed.

At the time of the outage the Cougars held a 1-0 lead following Greg Lagreid's RBI single in the second. Lagreid's shot through the right side brought home Jim Murphy, who had reached on a one-out walk and moved to third on Simi Reynold's double to right. Jared Prince started for WSU and had two strikeouts in his first time through the Sun Devil lineup.

When play resumes Friday, the Sun Devil will be batting in the top of the third with two outs. Andrew Romine will be on first base and leadoff hitter Colin Curtis at the plate with a 1-0 count.

WSU remains at 20-7 on the season, 2-1 in Pac-10 play, while Arizona State is 21-7 and playing its conference opener.
