Gabe Boruff Named Cougar Baseball Volunteer Assistant

PULLMAN, Wash. - Gabe Boruff has been named volunteer assistant for the Washington State baseball program, Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut announced, Wednesday.

Boruff lettered three years in baseball (1996-98) and two in football (1996-97) at Ephrata (Wash.) High School. He was an all-league catcher in baseball during the 1997 and 1998 campaigns and was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 35th round of the 1998 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. He attended Lewis-Clark State and was part of the Warriors NAIA national championship teams in 1999 and 2000.

A Wenatchee Valley College assistant coach for the last three seasons, Boruff also served as the head coach for the Babe Ruth Columbia Basin River Dogs (2004-05) and the West Coast Collegiate League Moses Lake Pirates (2006-07). He led the River Dogs to a third place finish at the 2005 Babe Ruth World Series and was named WCCBL Coach of the Year this past summer after guiding the Pirates to a league title.
