PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University senior tight end Jed Collins was selected to compete in the 83rd annual East-West Shrine game, it was announced recently.

Collins, a native of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., set the single-season record for Cougar tight ends with 52 receptions in 2007. He accumulated 512 yards and three touchdowns, and caught a career-high 10 passes against both Arizona and Stanford en route to being named Second-Team All-Pacific-10 Conference. He was also presented with the Cougar Inspiration Award, known as the Fred Bohler Award, at the WSU season-ending banquet.

The game will be held on the University of Houston campus in Houston, Texas. Collins continues a streak of seven consecutive seasons in which a player from WSU has been selected, and is the 111th Cougar to be selected to the game since 1926.
