DuRocher to Transfer from WSU Women's Basketball Program

PULLMAN, Wash. - Sophomore guard Amanda DuRocher has been given her release from the Washington State University women's basketball team and will transfer at the end of the semester, Jim Sterk, WSU's Director of Athletics, announced Wednesday. "I have struggled to make this decision due to the many friends and memories I have of WSU, but I feel it is time to move on," said DuRocher in a statement. "I will be attending The Master's College in Southern California where I will continue my educational endeavors as well as my athletic goals. I want to thank WSU for allowing me to be a part of a long-established tradition of quality education and athletics and I wish my teammates the very best success in the future." DuRocher, a native of Spanaway, Wash., will attend The Master's College, an NAIA school in Santa Clarita, Calif. "All of us appreciate Amanda's commitment and effort over the past two seasons," said WSU assistant coach Mark Lewis. "We sincerely wish her all the best both athletically and personally." DuRocher made her Cougar debut in 2005 after finishing as the all-time three-point leader at Bethel High School. She knocked down 50 treys in her freshman season and earned All-Pacific-10 Freshman Honorable Mention honors. In 2006, DuRocher started in 11 games and averaged 5.8 ppg. She knocked down a career high six three-pointers Feb. 24 against Oregon State to finish with a career high 24 points. In her two years with the Cougars, DuRocher averaged 7.0 ppg. |
