Daugherty Invited to Speak at Auburn-Riverside Banquet

May 14, 2008

AUBURN, Wash. - Washington State University women's basketball Head Coach June Daugherty was a surprise guest speaker at Auburn-Riverside High School's girls' basketball season-ending banquet, Wednesday.

Daugherty was invited to speak at Auburn-Riverside's banquet by head coach Adam Barrett, who along with future Cougar Katie Grad, led the Ravens to their second-consecutive state title in 2008.

Grad was named the 3A Washington State Tournament's Most Valuable Player and Tacoma News Tribune State Player of the Year this past season as a senior.

Daugherty, who has been invited to speak at a number of engagements this summer, also recently spoke at the season-ending banquet for Narbonne High School in Los Angeles. This past season Narbonne, led by another future Cougar in Danielle LeNoir, made it all the way to the Southern California Section championship game. LeNoir garnered first-team All-Marine League, first-team Daily Breeze All-Area and CIF Los Angeles City Section First Team honors in her final high school campaign.
