USA U-20 Women's Soccer Advances to Final in World Cup

Dec. 4, 2008

COQUIMBO, Chile - The United States knocked off Germany 1-0 in a semifinal match at the Under-20 Women's World Cup, Thursday.

Washington State's Kiersten Dallstream was a substitute for the Americans late in the second half replacing Sydney Leroux, the tournament's leading goal scorer.

Leroux's tally in the 21st minute provided the only goal of the match and sent the United States into Sunday's final against the People's Democratic Republic of Korea (Korea DPR). The Koreans advanced with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over France.

The final match is slated for 1:30 p.m., Pacific in the Chilean capital of Santiago, home to 6.5 million people, 39 percent of Chile's population.
