Cougar Swimmer Prepares for Olympic Games

Aug. 4, 2008

YANTAI, China - Washington State University swimmer Rugile Mileisyte has arrived in preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Mileistyte will be representing her native Lithuania in the 50 freestyle.

Upon her arrival, Mileisyte offered these thoughts, "I am finally in China! This is an amazing feeling to be in such an exotic place like China. I was in the Olympic Village for just a few hours and everything there looks perfect. Now, I am in Yantai, China where the Asian Games were held two years ago. I am staying in a cozy hotel by the beach so everything is nice and cool."

Mileisyte and her Lithuanian teammates and coaches will remain in Yantai until Friday, Aug. 8 when they will return to Beijing for the opening ceremonies. The swimming competition begins, Aug. 9 and Mileisyte will compete Aug. 15.
