Crimson Girls Dance Team

The WSU dance team, the Crimson Girls, was created in 2003, and was comprised of 12 experienced dancers. The Crimson Girls have placed 2nd at USA Nationals in Las Vegas three times, and 8th at UDA Nationals in Orlando in 2009!
In addition to performing at all home volleyball, football, and basketball games, the dance team, now consisting of 16 amazing dancers, is also frequently requested to appear at alumni functions and benefit parties.
The Crimson Girls are coached by Dance Team Coach Erika Boruff and Spirit Program Coordinator Ivy Wang. Tryouts for the 2009/2010 Crimson Girls were in April 2009. The WSU Crimson Girls Dance Team, now entering its sixth year, is a group of 16 highly experienced dancers who perform at all home football, volleyball, and men's and women's basketball games. They also compete at USA Collegiate Nationals each year in the hip hop division, and make appearances at many campus events, fundraisers, and alumni gatherings.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Washington State University's dance team, The Crimson Girls, placed eighth at the Universal Dance Association College Dance Team National Championship, Jan. 18.
The Crimson Girls, who perform at all Cougar football, basketball, and volleyball events, competed in the 1A Hip Hop Division at the two-day competition held on Jan. 17 and 18. It was the team's first time competing at the national championship.
"We knew that we would be facing the best teams in the country at this competition," WSU Dance Team Coach Erika Boruff said. "Our focus was to put on a great show that we could feel good about and leave it on the dance floor."
WSU worked its way up the rankings after placing 29th in the preliminary round and 13th in the semifinals.
"We've been working hard on our Nationals routine since we learned it in October," senior and team captain Carolyn Green said, who also added that moving up to eighth place is a credit to the team's hard work.
"We've logged more than 90 hours collaborating to make changes and clean this dance," Green added. "It definitely paid off!"
"We knew we were underdogs coming into this competition, and we surprised everyone, including ourselves," said junior and third-year Crimson Girl, Lacey Lingle.
The Crimson Girls' semifinals and finals performances can be viewed on www.varsity.com. In addition, highlights from the competition will be aired on ESPN2, Feb. 15 from noon to 1 p.m., and March 19 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Crimson Girls team members include: Green, Lingle, Chantel Jones, Sara Lenseigne, Kaila Evenoff, Mollie Marine, and Laura Nixon, sophomores Jenny Gudgel, Corynn Fine, Chanelle Whaley, Ashley Barrett, and Lindsey Jamieson, and freshmen Peyton Boone and Katie Green. Coaches are Erika Boruff and Ivy Wang.
